What is the difference between quicken premiere and quicken

I have a valid subscription to Quicken Premier (Windows), currently installed on a Windows 10 computer that has stopped working altogether. Quicken data file is backed up to an external hard drive. I’ll need to buy a new computer, with Windows 11 (my current computer isn’t upgradable to Windows 11 anyway, even if it were fixed somehow). How do I install my Quicken Premier subscription to the new computer, so I can then load the data file from my back-up? Somewhere else in the Community I read something about various problems using Quicken with Windows 11. I don’t know what version of Quicken I have, since I can’t access my computer, but I had downloaded whatever was the latest update within the last month. (My computer failure is only a little over a week old.). One commenter, regarding the problems using Quicken in Windows 11, said it might be due to a specific graphics card. Does Quicken work in Windows 11 only with certain graphics cards? If so, what kind(s) should I have (or avoid) in the new computer?

Last updated:February 10, 2025Quicken For Mac has come a long way although still lags behind the Windows version. If you're expecting the same product as on Windows and need decent investment tracking, tax analysis and rental support then you'll be disappointed. But if you need an integrated desktop and online budgeting app with integrated Bill Pay that looks great on a Mac, then it's still a decent personal finance solution. Pros:Can be used on Mac desktop and onlineQuicken Bill Pay available free in Premier versionImproved investment and loan trackingQuicker than previous versionsMac version looks better than on WindowsCons:Many Windows features still missing from Mac desktop versionInvestment tracking limitedNo crypto currency trackingImporting from Quicken for Windows can be messyQuicken is still one of the most popular personal finance software on the market and in this Quicken Classic For Mac review, we take a closer look at what it can do.Although we think there are much better alternatives to Quicken for Mac on the market nowadays such as the excellent Empower (FREE) , it’s still a powerful budgeting tool that’s easily still one of the most widely used personal finance packages out there. What Is Quicken Classic?Quicken rebranded its Quicken products to “Quicken Classic” as a nod to celebrating 40 years of Quicken and to distinguish it from its more simplified “Quicken Simplifi” personal finance software. Previously, there were annual releases of Quicken such as with Quicken 2018 For Mac and Quicken 2019 For Mac but that’s no longer the case. The rebranding involved giving the product a fresh new look in October 2023 although sadly for Mac users, this didn’t finally mean parity with the Windows version.A result of this rebranding is that Quicken now confusingly refers to the desktop products of Quicken as “Quicken Classic” which embraces the Deluxe, Premier and more recently Personal & Business versions. Quicken has also switched to a subscription pricing model with improvements and updates rolled out on a continual basis – there’s no one time purchase version available anymore. We’d love to say that using Quicken Classic on a Mac has finally caught up with the Windows version but as we found, unfortunately there’s still a long way to go.Here we’ll take a closer look at Quicken Classic for Mac and see where its at compared to the Windows version. Quicken 2025 (Premier) for Windows

Hi Running Windows 11 with subscription version of Quicken Premier. Running fine till about 2 days ago. Problem: Click Quicken icon (or select program .exe file) and Quicken fails to launch. I click the icon (or executable file) then it goes to the page for entering my password to open the data file . It then went to a blank page (no dashboard, data etc). I could see in task manager that Quicken was running but nothing on my screen(i.e. no data file loaded and visual to me) Solutions (?): I uninstalled Quicken through Windows and manually deleted every file I could find with Quicken in it. I then reinstalled a new Quicken Premier from the website and restored a backup file (dated before the problem occurred.) Quicken worked for about 20 minutes. As I reasoned possibly there was some problem centered around the page requesting my password to open the data file, I removed the password protection for my data file. to eliminate that option. I logged out and was able to get Quicken to load upon logging in. Hooray thought the problem was solved. Tried logging in later in the day . I clicked and took about 20 seconds for Quicken to load. I thought very lucky but seems to be working. Logged off and then tried to log back in and same problem as prior to the reinstall!! I would click the Quicken icon or attempt tp manually execute the program and Quicken failed to go to dashboard but instead goes to a blank page with Windows task manager showing me Quicken is active!! Seems like it is loading Quicken but then can't proceed to the next step with loading a data file into Quicken. I run Norton anti viral but disabled it for all these attempts so does not appear to be the issue. I also have Windows Defender turned off. Any ideas??? Thanks

I have been trying to download the Quicken format file from Vanguard the past couple of days, but have not been able to because of their system not allowing downloads. Is there a way to create a CSV or XLSX file, and then convert it into a QXF or QFX file, to Import into Quicken? This is in relation to an Investment Account, so all the imports would be related to Buy/Sell/Reinvestments etc. 0 Answers Chris_QPW Quicken Windows Subscription Member ✭✭✭✭ Try downloading the QFX file again. Quicken can sync simultaneously with Canadian and US financial institutions whereas the Windows version can only sync with one country at a time. This will obviously only be an advantage for a limited number of users that have accounts in both Canada and the USA.For more, check out our in-depth look at Quicken For Mac vs Windows. For an in-depth look at the difference between Quicken Deluxe and Premier for Mac, check out our look at Quicken Deluxe vs Premier. Quicken On The WebSource: QuickenThere’s also a limited cloud version of Quicken called Quicken On The Web which offers some of the features that are in the desktop version.Quicken On The Web is integrated with the desktop version of Quicken For Mac and all changes are synced via the Cloud. In the online version of Quicken, you can do all the essentials including:See balances, transactions, accounts, budgets and investmentsTrack investment performanceTrack spending and expensesYou don’t have to sync your accounts with the Cloud version however. Does Quicken For Mac Support Direct Connect?Quicken Classic For Mac does support Direct Connect which also supports Bill Pay.Direct Connect provides a convenient way for Quicken to automatically import your bank statements, transactions and credit card movements from your bank account to help you manage your finances better. Not only this but compared to other connection protocols, Direct Connect allows you full control over your funds including the ability to pay bills via Quicken Bill Pay and transfer funds between accounts.Source: QuickenThis ability for Quicken to connect directly to your bank via Direct Connect has many advantages including:Allows the app to help you manage your finances in real time, spot spending trends and advise you.Allows bills to be paid and reconciled automatically in the app via Bill PayAllows you to transfer funds between accounts including loans, credit cards, savings and checking accounts.Allows you to track the performance of 401K retirement funds.Reduces the need to keep logging-into your online banking to keep an eye on your finances.Brings together accounts from different banks into one place.Allows you to edit your lists of payees by adding or removing payments quickly in Quicken without having to log into your bank account online. However, it’s important be aware that Direct Connect is slowly being phased-out by banks and in most cases being replaced by Express Web Connect+ (EWC+).In the Mac version, Quicken supports:Express Web Connect (Quicken Connect in Quicken for Mac)Express Web Connect Plus Direct ConnectWeb ConnectEWC+ still allows you to sync transactions but does not support Bill Pay or allow you to transfer funds between accounts.EWC+ also uses a slightly different authentication system to Direct Connect. The first time you connect via EWC+, it takes you from Quicken to your bank’s website where you have to log into it so that Quicken can receive a secure token.Source: QuickenYour bank login details are then securely stored by Quicken For Mac in this token but you can revoke it from Quicken at any time. You may have to repeat this authorization method for EWC+ periodically
