The race is scheduled after the Australia and Chinese Grand Prix. The Japanese Grand Prix will take place on the 4th-6th of April as it currently sits as the third race on the 2025 Formula 1 calendar. Taking advantage of the F1 winter break, the Suzuka circuit has decided to make a few adjustments to the track. Motorsport.com reports that in the first sector, they have renewed the asphalt in its entirety. They are looking to improve the water drainage and reduce the risk of water on the track. The hope is that the tyre grip will also get better due to the modifications. Adjustments to Suzuka CircuitIf the cars have more grip in the first sector, their cars will be better abled to deal with the shifting of the car's load. The first part of the track goes quite fast and is found to be technical, thus needing more grip. The extra grip available would make it so that there was less of a strain on the F1 car. Towards the end of the circuit, the final sector, they will also be installing new asphalt. Particularly towards the end where the long straight is. The asphalt is not the only area being dealt with. The circuit has also installed new kerbstones. The kerbstones feature a slightly different design. While not unusual, the corners now have gravel instead of grass. The Suzuka circuit has been hard at work to ensure that they are ready for their time in the F1 spotlight in April. This article was written in collaboration with Esteban den Toom.Want more Formula 1? Push that had been agreed before the RB20 had run in anger.“It was actually done before we even turned a wheel in pre-season testing,” he said. “So, this was sitting there as a small performance gain. The question was, could we actually get it onto the car in the flyaway sequence?“We looked at it and thought: ‘yeah, we can.’ We made some parts and got them to Australia, so some of it started there. And then we picked the rest of it up here.”New floor and revised brakes Red Bull Racing RB20 technical detailPhoto by: Jon NobleAs well as the sidepod inlets, Red Bull has made revisions to the floor – which includes some subtle surface changes and an increased camber to help improve flow to the floor edge wing.Working together, these changes help deliver more downforce while also maintaining an adequate level of stability.Monaghan added: “It's visually a reasonably striking one, and in terms of magnitude of upgrade, it's roughly what triggers us to do an upgrade.”Beyond the floor, Red Bull has also reduced the size of its inlet and exit ducts for the front brakes. This has been possible because of the low brake energy demands of Suzuka, and having a smaller arrangement here is more efficient than simply blanking off ducts – as the team has done at earlier races.
